Spark Theatre Festival: A Joy

The world’s a stage and that thrills me.

At September’s Meet and Greet for the playwrights who won Spark Theatre Festival NYC Fall 2024, Paul Adams, the artistic director, said early on that what should concern us was the Word. And we should leave the light cues, sound cues, entrances, exits, music and talk back to the Spark staff and our casts.

Paul and me

I suggested my entrance music which included THE LONG AND WINDING ROAD, GOD ONLY KNOWS, YOU'VE GOT A FRIEND, and ME AND JULIO, for my September 9 staged reading of my play MOM, LASAGNA, AND MARGE at The Chain Theatre.

The calls and emails I’ve been getting since the reading make me giddy, and inspire me to sit at my computer and tweak some more. Playwriting and play marketing are super challenging and super fun.  I am grateful for the warm, collaborative working environment I had with my Spark readings and I look forward to our  continued working relationship and for those elsewhere. I’m new at playwriting and play marketing.  I am grateful for the opportunities so far.  I am in it for the long haul or for as long as I got.
